Mr. Obama, You Are No William WilberforceWritten by Comments Off
Last Updated February 8, 2010President Barack Obama spoke last week at the National Prayer Breakfast about the need to return to civility and see God in the faces of our political opponents. The president is by and large a brilliant speaker that commands attention and speaks with seeming insight and intelligence. I emphasize the word “seeming.” Whenever any politician calls for a return to the good old days when people were civil to each other, politically or otherwise, I strain to find the mythical world they are referring to where civility and manners once reigned. In American history there has never been such a tim... -
‘Sup Wid Healthcare?Written by Comments Off
Last Updated December 7, 2009First of all Obama made a visit to Capitol Hill yesterday for a bit of a conference and a pep talk. Let’s flash back to last October, right in the middle of the 2008 presidential campaign. That’s when Obama promised that when health care was discussed in Washington there would be Democrats in the room. There would be Republicans in the room. There would be CSPAN cameras in the room. He (that would be Obama) was going to bring a new era of bipartisanship and transparency to government. Super! I’ll bet some of you actually believed this guy when he made those promises, didnR... -
When You’re Really Desperate, Use The Word R...Written by Comments Off
Last Updated August 7, 2009We’ve been through this routine before. The favorite buzzword of the left, and of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, was “change.” My question was always, change from what to what? Well it seems as though we finally have an answer. The change that Barack Obama would like to see implemented is a change from a free market system to one of government dominance. At least when it comes to healthcare. He has launched an email campaign to ask his supporters to attend at least one community event on healthcare this month. He is apparently asking them to do this in order to ... -
Back to the Campaign TrailWritten by Comments Off
Last Updated July 2, 2009If there is one thing that Barack Obama can do really well it is campaign. I really hoped that this guy would make just as good a president as he was a candidate, but sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case. But that’s another story. Now that he is in the White House, he is going to use his excellent campaign techniques to get legislation passed. In this case, it would be government-run healthcare. Yep. He is going to use his campaign slogan of “yes we can” to con the government-educated Americans into believing that government healthcare is exactly what they need in th... -
Obama Demands PaygoWritten by Comments Off
Last Updated June 11, 2009Last week Obama urges Congress to adopt a government option for healthcare – a plan that will cost over $1.3 trillion. On Monday Barack Obama announced to the nation that he was going to ramp up stimulus spending. Now, all of the sudden, Barack Obama is worried about spending. Yesterday he urged Congress to reinstitute Paygo. That would require Congress to finance the cost of any spending initiatives by either increasing taxes or cutting something from the budget. Based on the Democrats lofty schemes – universal healthcare, increased spending on education, energy legislation, bail...
